Disneyland- In France?

That’s right!  Disneyland Paris is located just outside of Paris.  Have you ever been there?  Have you been to the one in Florida?  How about in California?  Visit http://www.disneylandparis.com/ for more information!  What do you think about a Disney World in Europe?  Do you think everything is in French?  Spanish?  Italian?  How does it all work?

Poisson d’Avril

April 1st in France is Poisson d’Avril- April Fish.  What is the meaning of that?  What do you think about it?

Spectacular Photos

Do you like the picture you see here?  This is a really neat view of Le Sacré-Coeur cathedral in Paris.  It’s up on a hill overlooking Paris.  This person has a really unique view!  Visit this flickr site http://www.flickr.com/photos/essaitlr2712/ and see some really fantastic pictures of Paris!  It makes me want to be there right now!

Why Learn Languages?

Why did you start learning a language? What was the first language you learned? Is it hard for you to learn another language? How many can you speak?

French Lessons

How many years have you been speaking French? Do you feel like you can communicate well enough to travel to a French speaking place without a dictionary or anyone to help?

Celebration of the Arts= Crêpes!

So, did you come to Celebration of the Arts?  Did you try a crêpe?  Tell us what you put in it and what you thought about the taste!

Challenge #2

Here is the second challenge in the Worldwide Blogging Challenge.  Visit http://wyatt67.edublogs.org/2009-all-the-challenges-in-one-spot/  and click on challenge #2.  This will let you create an avatar so that every time you post on one of the edublogs.org sites, your special avatar will come up.  You may have seen my Eiffel Tower peeking through the trees avatar that I use.

Celebration of the Arts

Tonight we have our Celebration of the Arts at school.  Foreign language classes are part of the arts here at Mattacheese, so we will be here too.  In the cafeteria, we will have French and Spanish food to try and lots of student work will be up on the walls.  We hope to see you there!

Bike It

For the past few years, a neat thing has been happening in France. In major cities and towns, they have a bike rental system so you can get yourself around town without causing any pollution. Prices range for a couple of euros per hour to a monthly subscription for unlimited access. The thing that I think is really neat is that you can drop it off any bike rental place, so a lot of people use them to get from one place to another without having to worry about where to leave their bikes.  In many towns, especially in Paris, there are special lanes just for bikes and since they ride and rive on the same side of the road as we do in the US, you wouldn’t have a problem knowing which side of the road is yours.  This is a picture that I found of a similar system in Aix-en-Provence. Since biking is faire du vélo, the name of this bike rental is V’hello. Welcoming you with hello while being clever with the word vélo.

Toujours Provence

When I was in college, I spent a semester(6 months) in Aix-en-Provence.  Located in southern France, it is a very pretty area with a quiet, slow paced way of life.  Today in 8th grade, we watched Passport to Europe- Provence with Samantha Brown.   She showed several towns in Provence- Les Baux, Nimes, Aix-en-Provence.  What do you think of this area of France?
